Critically acclaimed Vástádus Eana - The answer is land comes to Kautokeino
This autumn, the critically acclaimed dance-joke performance Vástádus Eana – The Answer is land will finally be shown in Elle Sofe Sara's hometown of Kautokeino. Community and kinship between people and with nature are the main themes in the performance.
- Sara is referred to as one of the most interesting and important choreographers of her generation in Norway, and this is something we at Dáiddadállu are incredibly proud of. The performance has gone to full houses in Oslo, Tromsø, Harstad and Hammerfest. And before they come to us, they will show at several internationally recognized festivals such as Tanz Im August in Berlin, Julidans in Amsterdam and Icehot in Helsinki, says Dine Fenger Lynge, general manager of Dáiddadállu.
Through dance and joik, the performance reflects on the power of standing together and the awareness of the earth we all stand on and share. The choreography is inspired by demonstrations, Sami spiritual practices and formation dance. Multipart joik is the main element of the performance, and was composed by Frode Fjellheim.
- I have long wanted to bring the performance here to my hometown, I can hardly explain how big and important it is to me. I hope that people will go to the theater to see, says Elle Sofe Sara, choreographer for Vástádus Eana.
- There are two performances on 10 September, a matinee performance during the day and an evening performance. In addition, school performances will be staged on 9 September, concludes Lynge.
The performance is a collaboration between Dansenett Norge, Dáiddadállu, Elle Sofe Company, Kautokeino municipality and Sámi Našunalateather Beaivváš.
