Dáiddadállu at KulturSápmi 2024
Dáiddadállu's administration has been at this year's KulturSápmi in Jåhkåmåhkke. We learn that this is one of the most important meeting points for cultural practitioners in Sápmi, where different branches of culture meet and raise current issues. This year's themes were, among other things, Sami involvement in cultural events, Sami art criticism and knowledge and capacity building.
Dáiddadállu has extensive experience in the various topics that were included in the program, but will primarily raise topics that were most relevant to us. We think that the discussion about Sami art criticism is a very important topic that the cultural field in Sápmi should work on further. We feel that there was a great deal of agreement that we need our own art criticism with many good suggestions and input. This theme is highly relevant for Dáiddadállu as we sometimes encounter art criticism when our own artist partners present art.
The second debate, which was about knowledge and capacity building in Sami cultural institutions, is something that Dáiddadállu takes with him further in his own development. Internationalisation, export and capacity building are something Dáiddadállu works on daily. We primarily think that it is important to strengthen cooperation between institutions in Sápmi, but also to establish cooperation with various international indigenous institutions. With international collaborations, for example with other indigenous institutions, knowledge of our own culture can be obtained. Dáiddadállu's internationalization is primarily about making our own artists visible for further export, and has several examples of artists who have succeeded first at international level and later nationally.
During KulturSápmi's last day, Dáiddadállu had a presentation of Dáiddadállu's work together with other institutions such as Vermie K and Verdde and the latest addition of a new artistic partner, Hildá Lænsman, who presented her latest release.
