Dáiddadállu 10 jagi
Since its establishment in 2014, Dáiddadállu has become a central junction between Sámi contemporary art and local, regional, national and international professional community and the public. Dáiddadállu celebrates art and its unique Sámi artist network by pushing the boundaries of creativity in connection with its 10-year anniversary in 2024.
«We can finally now show off our great artists that we actually house in our small village, with the great work of decorating public spaces in the hometown of Guovdageaidnu with their works. This is something that reflects what we also present out in the world: active, professional, Sámi artists and a bustling artist community.»
Our unique Sámi, interdisciplinary artist network motivates our artists to new, cross-genre co-productions by challenging themselves and their own artistry in open meetings with each other.
Since its inception, Dáiddadállu has aimed to be an attractive arena for creative and professional Sami contemporary artists. They are to be inspired and developed in both genre and cross-border processes, which reflect artists' willingness to experiment and push creative boundaries to a hungry, national and international market. This is precisely what we at Dáiddadállu have worked hard for for many years: To highlight, facilitate and, not least, also host and finally the year has come and we are ready to present brand new works and productions!
«We are celebrating 10 years in 2024, and of course we are betting big! We are very happy that we have such a talented project manager and choreographer Alexandra Wingate on the team. This project is on a large scale of how many of our artist partners are involved in the commissioned production. In addition, we have close cooperation with local and external actors. Now there are many local forces that collaborated to make Kautokeino the leading Sámi travel destination. A place for strong, authentic encounters with people, nature and culture, and we are proud to be a strong player in the process.»
Producer Alexandra Wingate and general manager Dine Arnannguaq Fenger Lynge.
With visual artists, musicians, dancers, choreographers, writers, scenographers, designers, directors, actors and joikers, we have created new, long-awaited art for public space in Kautokeino and we will fill both exhibition arenas and stages, hills and mountains locally, nationally and internationally in connection with DD 10 jagi.
Welcome and join our celebration and premiere at Beassášmárkanat where we offer brand new works of art and productions! The celebration continues throughout the spring, summer and autumn of 2024. Dáiddadállu is also offering an art exhibition and an anniversary production in the Sámi Center for Contemporary Art, Riddu Riđđu, KulturSápmi and the Nuuk Nordic Culture Festival in 2025.
Producer Alexandra Wingate is looking forward to show brand new art and productions during Easter week in Kautokeino.
«It has been super interesting to be able to join and follow everyone's work in creating new artwork for DD 10 jagi!»
