Ánne Kátjá owns and runs the company Johtti Productions AS in Guovdageaidnu, Northern Norway.
As a 17-year-old, Ánne Kátjá debuted with her first exhibition called Boazodoallu - min eallin/Reindrift - vår liv. This was at Thon Hotel Kautokeino in 2013 and consisted 10 large photographs with reindeer herding as their theme.
Ánne Kátjá has a great interest in film and TV, and has a bachelor degree in TV directing with a specialization in multi-camera production from the prestigious TV school in Lillehammer, Norway.
In 2020, she made a short film together with Grete Andrea Kvaal from Tromsø. The film is called Buot iežan bohccuid dovddan (I know all my reindeer), and is about Ánne Kátjá's grandmother and her life as a woman in reindeer herding. Ánne Kátjá did photography and editing, and Grete Andrea Kvaal directed. The film was acquired by both NRK and the Sámi Parliament. In 2022, Ánne Kátjá was selected as an intern at the world's largest animation production company: Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, Los Angeles. There she was able to follow and learn from the very best in the industry.
«I photographed my first wedding as a 13-year-old! I was not hired as a photographer, but brought my camera and was there from morning to night. I started getting photo gigs as a 16-year-old and had my first photo exhibition the following year.»
Ánne Kátjá has a great passion for love, and works as a wedding photographer in northern Norway. Her clients often describe Ánne Kátjá as pleasant and skilled at capturing beautiful moments and getting people to be themselves in front of the camera. The images are described as timeless, harmonious and genuine.
Her latest project was working as production coordinator at the major feature film Ellos eatnu - Let the river flow by Ole Giæver. The film was a great success and was nominated in 8 categories in the Amanda Awards and won 3 awards. Ellos Eatnu is also nominated as Norwegian contribution to the Oscars of 2023.
The Sámi is primarily implicit in who Ánne Kátjá is, and is probably expressed in many ways in her work and art. The Sámi lies in how she works, meets others, and what she sees when she photographs.
Nature and landscapes has a large place in Ánne Kátjá's pictures, and she uses landscapes as a separate element in her photographs. Nature gives us life, our pure lives and our entire existence depend on nature.
Themes Ánne Kátjá often works with are about identity and reflections on Sámi culture and especially reindeer-herding culture.
